Scenic Horizon Tours are a family business located on the New South Wales Central Coast and all tours depart from and return to the Central Coast.  Where possible we provide a home pickup in the immediate Central Coast area on all short break tours.  
 

2017 SHORT BREAK TOURS
All short break tours include a home pickup in the immediate Central Coast area. Tour costs include  luxury coach travel, accommodation, full breakfasts and three course dinners with choices (unless specified), all entry fees and attractions as per the itinerary. Join us for a memorable Christmas as we enjoy "all things in Melbourne" including the optional traditional Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground or Melbourne's Boxing Day shopping.   Special features of the tour will include dinner on Melbourne's famous Colonial Tramcar Restaurant, High Tea at Overnewton Castle and a festive Christmas buffet lunch.   We tour Melbourne and view the city from the Eureka Skydeck.   wander the well known Cloudehill Garden and nursery at Olinda before boarding the legendary Puffing Billy for a train ride through some of the Dandenongs Spectacular scenery.   From Sorrento we cross Port Philip Bay on the searoad ferry before a guided tour of Fort Queenscliff.    We also visit the Village Green and Pavilion. OPERA IN THE ALPS

Held in the picturesque grounds of Beechworth Golf Course, Opera in the Alps is a spectacular evening under the stars with guest artists Mark Vincent - straight from Opera Australia's My Fair Lady,  Anna Voshege - Berlin's finest rising Opera Star and James Morrison - world renowned multi-instrumentalist. This is certainly a night to remember. Our touring includes a visit to the historic town of Yackandandah and to Myrtleford to view the phoenix tree.  We visit the Red Stag Deer Farm before travelling through Bright and
the charming Wandiligong Valley.   We are given a guided tour of Albury Botanical Gardens and our touring takes us into the Mitta Valley where a local "identity" accompanies us to Dartmouth Dam.  We cruise Lake Mulwala before visiting Indigo Cheese and All Saints Winery.

The Bendigo Easter Festival is the oldest ongoing festival in Australia and it is extremely colourful, vibrant and exciting. It  is  a  must  see  event  and  is   also a fund raiser for the Bendigo Hospital.   Fire crackers waken Sun Loong, the longest Imperial Dragon in the World, from his sleep.    The Spectacular and Athletic Chinese Lions are amazing to watch, the torchlight lantern procession and fireworks bring families together and the street parade is something very special.   In addition to our time in Bendigo where we visit Bendigo Pottery, the Golden Dragon Museum and the Sacred Heart Cathedral, we enjoy a morning tea cruise on Lake Mulwala and lunch at Byramine Historic Homestead which was built for Elizabeth Hume.   We visit the Castlemaine Art Gallery and Historical Museum and the Buda Historic Home and Gardens.   While in Echuca relax over lunch on a Murray River Paddlesteamer.   Accommodation:    Quality Siesta Albury;  All Seasons Hotel and Quality Resort Bendigo (3 nights);   Mercure Wagga Wagga

BRIGADOON

The Southern Highlands Scottish Gathering is the ultimate Scottish Experience.   The Street Parade features Pipe Bands from all over the State and there are a variety of decorated floats and Marching Clan Societies.   It is a day of Massed Scottish Bands, fun, games, dancing, stalls and endless information.  Try your luck at tossing the caber, shot putt, haggis hurling, kilted races, egg throwing and water toss or just sit back and enjoy the Highland and Scottish Country Dance Demonstrations, the ambience and the events of the day including the Tartan Warriors and the Stones of Manhood.   The Lone Piper concludes the day after the Massed Bands Presentation.   We spend some time in Yass where we visit Cooma Cottage which was the home of Hamilton Hume.  We visit Crisp Galleries and marvel at the work of Peter Crisp and then we call in at a Murrumbateman winery for some wine tasting.  We cruise the Blue Mountains National Park and the Nepean Gorge aboard the Nepean Belle Paddlewheeler and enjoy a delicious buffet lunch.

AUTUMN IN THE NEW ENGLAND RANGES AND ARMIDALE

Cool crisp mornings, bright sunny days and the golden hue of falling Autumn leaves takes us to the New England Ranges and in particular Armidale. A picturesque city noted for its colonial era architecture, centres of education and culture, amazing churches and the nearby wilderness and gorge country.     Armidale is a place of four seasons and in autumn with the changing colours of the leaves it is a delightful place to visit.    Our time will be spent exploring the area and enjoying some country hospitality as we visit the Australian Country Music Hall of Fame, The University of New England, Saumarez Homestead, Wollomombi Falls and Ebor Falls, Dorrigo and Hillview Herb Farm.   Accommodation:   All Seasons Motel  (3 nights).

FLINDERS RANGES

Dramatic gorges, impressive landscapes, bright clear skies, spectacular sunsets and the abundant flora and fauna entice us to visit this beautiful part of Australia.  Following the Murray River we visit Lock 5 and the rustic Mallyons on the Murray and we embark on a short historical train journey aboard the Pichi Richi Rail.   The ruins of Kanyaka Homestead beckon us to take a closer look.   While in the Flinders Ranges we are given an insiders tour of this stunning National Park by a local guide.   Enjoy nibbles and drinks while watching the sunset from Pugilist Lookout before returning to Rawnsley Park Station where a 'lamb on the spit' dinner awaits.  Experience the 'Wilpena Panorama' at Jeff Morgans Gallery and historic Bungaree Station which since 1841 has been a living record of rural Australia and in keeping in this vein we visit Shear Australia - the National Shearers Hall of Fame.

This is a magical time of the year to be in the Blue Mountains where we appreciate the clean crisp mountain air and the warmth of a log fire in the evenings   We look forward to celebrating Christmas in Winter with carols and a sumptuous dinner.  Vine Cottage Tool Museum and Tea Room is a great place to begin our touring before arriving at the former home and gallery of Norman Lindsay- one of Australia's most controversial, exceptional and prolific artists.   We delight in once again being able to board the Zig Zag Railway and we visit the cool climate Botanic Gardens of Mt. The uniqueness of the desert, the rich red soils and the low grey scrub, the intensely blue skies and the magnificent sunsets all add to the character of Broken Hill which is also described as 'The Silver City', 'The Oasis of the West' and the 'Capital of the Outback'.   This culturally enriched heritage city is an amazing place to visit and showcases such attractions as the Line of Lode and Miners Memorial, The Royal Flying Doctor Visitor Centre, The Silver City Mint and Art Centre and the 'Big Picture', Jack Absalom Gallery, Pro Hart Gallery, The Living Desert and Sculpture Symposium which is a must see at sunset, historic Silverton and Menindee Lake.

Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers is a paradise for lovers of flowering shrubs and annuals where spring brings a burst of kaleidoscope colour into spectacular parks and award winning private gardens.  The locals are proud of their town and present a wonderful Grand Central Floral Parade including decorated floats, colourful street performers and live bands - it is a great atmosphere.   We also ride the steam train from Toowoomba to Spring Bluff Railway Station, visit the Downs Steam Railway Museum and wander the English style Brindabella Country Gardens. Accommodation:     All Seasons Motel Armidale;  Ambassador on Ruthven Toowoomba (3 nights)  Novotel Pacific Bay Resort
