YOUNG AND SURROUNDS CRAFT AND OP SHOP TOUR

Bargain hunting, lots of laughs and lasting friendships are the basis of this tour.   We visit Op Shops, Craft Shops and an Antique and Collectable Centre.   Arriving home with bargains galore, many stories to share and shopping and gifts not only for ourselves but also for our family and friends we look forward to the next Craft and Op Shop Tour in 2021.


NORFOLK ISLAND 
8th to 15nd March, 2020  (8 days)

'Paradise' is how  Captain  James  Cook described Norfolk in his log book when he discovered the uninhabited Island in 1774.  Be immersed in the warm embrace of local living and discover the rich heritage of the landscape from steep ocean clifftops to patches of sub-tropical rainforest set amongst convict ruins and the famous Norfolk Pines.  Meet the locals on the Progressive Dinner.    Our touring includes Discover our World Tour and meeting Emily from the Hilli Goat – The Norfolk Way tour.    We join the Norfolk Today Tour and overlooking Cascade Bay  a delicious High Tea is served.     We enjoy delicious barbecue breakfast at the Captain Cook Memorial.     We embark on the Artists Trail Tour visiting the artists in their studios and delight in meeting  the locals in their homes on a progressive dinner.  A visit to the property of the late Colleen McCullough is on the agenda and on the Farm and Industry Tour we meet a selection of enterprises that sustain Norfolk Island.    We have scheduled a visit to the stunning 360 degree panoramic painting at Cyclorama.  The Island Fish Feast is an absolute treat and in the bushland of Norfolk Island we are treated to a Wonderland By Night.   Wander through the Sunday Markets before our flight back to Sydney.

The Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show where we spend a  day is a celebration of Australian lifestyle and our great outdoors.   Our garden tour takes us to the Big Bouquet which is a gerbera and alpaca farm and The Blue Lotus Water Garden.  We visit Werribee Park Mansion and Werribee Open Range Zoo.  Through the Dandenong Ranges we take the famous Puffing Billy Steam Train ride.   We visit Rayners Orchard for an Orchard Fruit Adventure Tour and we also visit Warratina Lavender Farm.


EASTER ON THE STUNNING SAPPHIRE COAST

Our Easter tour is to the South Coast of New South Wales known as the Sapphire Coast. Its coastal, forest, mountain and rural country combine to create a sensational holiday destination. Stunning scenery along with the history associated with the whaling industry in Eden, the farming at Cobargo Farm, the cheese making at Bega and the villages of Tilba Tilba and Central Tilba combine with the other attractions to make this an interesting tour. We visit Burnima Homestead, Mallacoota and the Operation Bunker, take a discovery cruise on Twofold Bay, visit the Merimbula Aquarium, Potoroo Palace, Foxglove Spires Open Garden and Mogo Zoo. MURRAY PRINCESS

Step aboard the grand old lady of the river and into a bygone era on the Murray Princess.  A fundamental part of Australia’s heritage was founded in the proud tradition of the paddle steamers on Australia’s greatest river.    Along the way we cruise past majestic Red Gum Forests, stark Box Tree Flats and massive white sand bars forming island retreats.   Watch for the Sulphur Crested Cockatoos nesting high in towering red sandstone cliffs.    This is a spectacular cruise on an iconic river of South Australia.   On the Princess you will enjoy a Welcome Dinner, many photo opportunities, a visit to Burk Salter Boutique Winery, Swan Reach Museum, the Woolshed Show and great Aussie barbecue, a bushwalk with the Captain, Ngaut Ngaut Aboriginal Reserve and the Farewell Captain’s Buffet Dinner.    Our touring also includes Cactus Country at Strathmerton, the historic Echuca Port and  Banrock Station.

It is a wonderful time to visit and experience the fabulous autumn colours of the region.   The crunch of leaves underfoot, the scent of wood smoke and an explosion of red, orange and gold foliage will only enhance our experience of the magic of regional Central West New South Wales in all its autumn glory.   We visit Chifley House, the home of Prime Minister Ben Chifley, and Abercrombie House built in Scottish Baronial style and acknowledged as one of the finest historical mansions in Australia.   Fourjay Farms growing hazelnuts and Rowlee Wines are also in the itinerary.    This will be a very colourful four day tour. 


MOREE AND LIGHTNING RIDGE

Moree is located in the centre of the rich black soil plains on the banks of the Mehi River and is known as the Artesian Spa Capital of Australia.   Moree is a major agricultural and cotton growing area whereas Lightning Ridge, situated near the southern border of Queensland, is the black opal capital of the world.  Come and explore the intriguing outback of New South Wales, appreciate the dramatic landscape and be amazed at the unique lifestyle of the people who live here.   You will have the opportunity to taste local produce, view stunning opals and visit some unforgettable landmarks such as the Pub in the Scrub and Glengarry Hilton.
This tour will showcase the best of the North West.


ROCKHAMPTON AND TOWN OF 1770

Rockhampton’s charming historical architecture has captured the hearts of visitors of many decades.  Founded in 1853 the city is home to heritage post offices, historic streetscapes, majestic cathedrals and quaint homes.   Located on the Fitzroy River “Rocky” as it is known locally is the fourth largest city in the State.    Moving from inland to the coast we explore the town of 1770.   The then Lieutenant James Cook on his discovery voyage of the New Found Land Australia first set foot at this point on the 24th May, 1770.   The town was named in this honour and a monument is erected near the spot where Cook and Joseph Banks came ashore.   The Town of 1770 is nestled on the western side of a peninsula overlooking one of the most magnificent views of Bustard Bay and Round Hill Creek.

LONGREACH AND THE SPIRIT OF THE OUTBACK TRAIN

Our outback adventure includes a journey on the 'Spirit of the Outback' from Brisbane to Longreach.   This fascinating journey offers a unique insight into the history and culture of early Australia combined with interesting commentary, a social atmosphere and an authentic dining experience.  Watch the ever-changing landscape as the train moves from the coast through the hear of the Outback with its rugged mountains, wide open plains and historic towns.    Our destination of Longreach is the centre of a vast area known as the Central West in the geographical heart of Queensland.   There are some fascinating things to see and do in this part of the world – a region that attracted bush poets like Banjo Patterson and pioneers and the early post world war one pilots who formed the Queensland and Northern Territory Arial Services which in turn helped form the Flying Doctor Service.  What really makes the area are the characters that live here.   Join us on a memorable holiday to the Outback.

BOOROWA AND THE RUNNING OF THE SHEEP 
2nd to 5th October, 2020

It is festival time in Boorowa where we experience the amusing spectacle of the 'Running of the Sheep'. Prized merino sheep are shepherded down the road by farmer Ashley,  on his four wheel motorbike and his trusty kelpies which leap on and off the motorbike and the sheep’s backs.   The town is a hive of activity with stalls, Celtic Pipe Bands and Irish Dancers to entertain.   We visit Iandra Castle showcasing evidence of a prosperous time in Australian history.   This is an interesting tour based for three nights in Young.


CLARE VALLEY AND YORKE PENINSULA

Clare is famous for its wineries – a tradition begun in 1851 by the Jesuit Priests at Sevenhill.  Their winery still operates today and is on our itinerary of places to visit.   The area’s copper mining heritage is also very evident.  To the west of Clare is the Yorke Peninsula a holiday destination for many South Australians.    Embraced by the sea, “Yorkes” has magnificent beaches and jagged shorelines, friendly locals and rich farmland.   Sit back, relax and enjoy the ever changing scenery as we showcase the peninsula. 


MILLTHORPE GARDEN RAMBLE 
6th to 8th November, 2020 (3 days)

Be inspired and gather ideas from open gardens in and around the delightful historic village of Millthorpe.    Spend time and swap tips from other fellow green thumb travellers.   This is a tour not to be missed as we will be visiting Mayfield Gardens, Millthorpe Open Gardens,  Millthorpe Golden Memories Museum and the Carrington Hotel Katoomba for high tea.


YARRA VALLEY

Located just a short drive from Melbourne the stunning Yarra Valley is one of Australia’s foremost cool climate regions and is a little slice of food and wine paradise.   We visit beautiful gardens and orchards, museums, Coombe Yarra Valley and the Yarra Valley Chocolaterie and Ice Creamery as well as admiring several painted silos.

Join us for a memorable Christmas as we uncover Melbourne’s unique charm. A train ride at the unique Kerrisdale Mountain Railway and Museum is fun and we cruise on Melbourne’s Tramboat along the Yarra and through the Port of Melbourne. Spectacular views are seen from Eureka Skydeck, we visit Newport’s Railway Museum and take a step back in time at Altona Homestead. We travel to Ballarat’s grandest hotel and restaurant – The Craig’s Royal Hotel for Christmas lunch. At historic Queenscliff we visit the Maritime Museum before heading to Geelong for some free time at The Amazing Mill Markets. We also spend some time in Beechworth.
